As the cottage boom evolved, the local shipwright, who had formerly built the sailing vessels, now became the house carpenter. Masons and painters began advertising. Electricians and plumbers advertised as well when, in the early 1900s electricity and town water became available. The first area to be built with summer cottages appears to be the Crescent Beach area north to the main beach.
